Health Research Council (HRC)
Supporting improvements in human health
See the website here.
The Health Research Council of New Zealand (HRC) is the crown entity responsible for the management of government investment in public good health research.
After an extensive re-branding exercise, the HRC undertook to rebuild their website. The primary objective was to enable those involved or interested in health research to access relevant information and interact with the HRC, and other stakeholders.
The HRC provides a variety of funding opportunities, scholarships and partnerships, in particular for Maori and Pacific health research. The website also provides a centralised resource for those involved in applying for funding and accessing health research publications. Users are able to sign up for regular emails, newsletters and publications on the website by selecting their areas of interest.
The new website needed to handle a large amount of dynamic content to be self-managed by HRC staff. FRESCO built a specialised content management system (CMS) to enable staff to update text on all pages. A content management interface was built using research-based usability practices, to give the HRC an intuitive and easy-to-understand tool. This has taken the hassle and expense out of updating website content, enabling users to manage their website fast and efficiently. The dynamic menu-building function allows new menu buttons to be created and existing buttons altered while automatically updating the site map.
Following the design and development of the website, FRESCO has worked with key members of HRC to develop a look and feel for their reporting system and E-Newsletters. FRESCO also provided onsite training to members of the HRC staff to best utilise the CMS software.
